Why SeaCell™ is the sustainable Choice for activewear

As people become more aware of the impact of their actions on the environment, there is a growing demand for sustainable products in all aspects of life. This is particularly true when it comes to clothing, especially activewear. People who lead an active lifestyle need clothing that is comfortable, durable, and easy to care for. But, they also want clothes that are eco-friendly and made from sustainable materials.

One material that is gaining popularity in the activewear industry is SeaCell. This textile is made from seaweed, which makes it a natural, renewable resource. Here are some reasons why Matter are using SeaCell.

Eco-Friendly
SeaCell is made from sustainably harvested seaweed that is gathered along the pristine coasts of Iceland. The seaweed is then processed using a unique, environmentally friendly method that minimizes the use of water and energy. This process also ensures that the beneficial properties of the seaweed are preserved.

Comfortable and Durable
SeaCell is a comfortable and breathable fabric that is perfect for activewear. It is soft against the skin and has excellent moisture-wicking properties, making it ideal for workouts and other physical activities. Additionally, SeaCell is a strong and durable fabric that can withstand repeated washings without losing its shape or softness.

Healing Properties
SeaCell contains natural minerals and trace elements that are beneficial for the skin. These minerals have been shown to have healing and anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to soothe and heal the skin. This makes SeaCell an ideal choice for activewear that comes into contact with the skin.

Sustainable Fashion
Choosing SeaCell for your activewear products is a step towards sustainable fashion. By using a renewable resource, you are reducing your impact on the environment and supporting sustainable farming practices. Additionally, SeaCell is biodegradable, so it won't contribute to the growing problem of textile waste in landfills.

Seacell: The Innovative Fabric That Benefits Both Your Skin and the Environment

As a brand committed to creating comfortable and sustainable activewear, Matter are always searching for new and innovative fabrics to incorporate into our products. One such fabric is Seacell, a blend of cotton and seaweed that not only feels great against the skin but also has healing and anti-inflammatory properties.

Seacell is made by incorporating seaweed into the cellulose fibers of the cotton. The seaweed used in Seacell is typically Laminaria digitata, which is harvested in a sustainable way off the coast of Iceland. The seaweed is processed in a closed-loop system, which means that the water and chemicals used in the process are recycled, reducing waste and pollution.

What sets Seacell apart from other fabrics is the presence of natural substances found in the seaweed, such as vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. These substances have been shown to have healing and anti-inflammatory properties, and can help to soothe and heal the skin. In fact, a study published in the Journal of Textile Science and Technology found that Seacell had a positive effect on the skin of people with atopic dermatitis, a chronic skin condition characterized by inflammation and itching.

Another study published in the Journal of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management found that Seacell has antibacterial properties, which can help to prevent the growth of bacteria on the skin. This is especially important for activewear, as sweat can create an environment that is conducive to bacterial growth.

In addition to its health benefits, Seacell is also an eco-friendly fabric. The seaweed used in Seacell is harvested in a sustainable way, and the closed-loop system used in the production process reduces waste and pollution.

At Matter, we believe that Seacell is a good alternative fabric for our activewear products. Our Seacell blend contains 80% cotton and 20% Seacell, with a fabric weight of 280 GSM. The fabric is made in Italy, and our garments are made in Portugal.

We are proud to offer our customers activewear that not only feels great but also has healing and anti-inflammatory properties. By choosing Seacell, we are also doing our part to reduce waste and protect the environment. We hope that you will join us in our commitment to creating sustainable and comfortable activewear.
